What made us choose loose leaf tea?

Hello tea fans!

So you're probably thinking up until this point that we (Teazorean co-founders, Mark and Megan) have always drank tea and have always dreamed about selling tea and teaching everyone about tea! That is not the case. Confession - this is only our 3rd year of truly enjoying and being immersed in the world of tea. We are still learning! There is no such thing as a "tea expert" (you can't possibly know absolutely everything about every single type of tea, especially since every day countless new blends are created)! And don't feel bad if you're new here. Everyone was once new. We want to share what made us choose tea though.

Before tea, there was coffee. I (Megan) didn't even like the taste of coffee. I thought to myself, what is this beverage people swear by EVERY DAY? I thought it seemed like a chore. Do people even enjoy this stuff? (Sorry, coffee drinkers out there - well tea drinkers that also appreciate a cup of joe) Can't say that I love coffee but well I tolerated it I guess you could say before tea. After coffee, there was tea bags. Still tea but, as you know -  loose leaf is a whole other dimension. Tea bags had their run for a couple years.. Again there was something missing, I drank mainly the Earl Greys and herbal bedtime teas...

Then, when you convince yourself to try some intimidating loose leaf (yes at first it was very intimidating - "how much, how do I know, how do I measure, why does it still seem complicated?! Etc..") you really taste the difference. More pure, less processed, more refined and higher quality. The leaves haven't lived their lives in a bag but more often they were residing in a field not too long ago and you can still taste the wild!

Anyways, after trying loose leaf you really can't go back to anything else. But then Mark kept telling me I had to try tea from the Azores. His tea story is a little different - He was lucky enough to have tried this tea since he was a little kid! But to be fair having not gone back to the Azores for over 15 years he really was missing it.

We thought about ordering some from there but instead we visited the island and tried it first hand. It. Was. Life-changing. Everything about the experience was amazing, the fact that we were in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, on a dormant volcano and this delicious tea was created HERE? Simply a miracle. After that moment we knew we had to bring it back to Canada.

It got us thinking that there was no easy way for people back home to enjoy the tea, unless they ordered online which we also tried but when you see the estimated delivery date 1-2 months away...

That brings us to the seedling in our minds that eventually formed Teazorean. All it takes is an experience. A thought. An idea.

Happy Brewing Little Zoreans,

- Teazorean Team
